Boudoir Photography

Thank you for your interest in my Boudoir Photography services. Boudoir Photography should be more than taking pictures of a woman in lingerie. Specializing in location photography, I create photographs on locations that have meaning to the subject… and to the eventual viewer of the photographs.

Realizing that Boudoir Photography is a very personal choice and can raise many questions and concerns, some of the more common questions are addressed below. But I want to address all of your questions, so please contact me. I want to help you make this as special as you deserve it to be.

Frequently asked questions…
I’m nervous enough about having my picture taken; how will I feel if I’m in lingerie?
Many people can be, at least initially, uncomfortable in front of the camera; it’s 100% normal. But my experience has shown that my professionalism will guide you through the process. Plus working in a familiar environment (rather than an unfamiliar studio) can help put you at ease.

Why don’t you use a studio?
I want to connect your fantasy with your reality — and a studio has nothing to do with your reality. Typically I’ll work in a client’s home but I’ve worked in other locations as well; a familiar location can help make you feel at ease in front of the camera. Of course, if you’d prefer a studio, I can arrange for that as well.

How long will the photography take?
Prior to the actual session, preparation may take about an hour — your wardrobe & makeup, setting up my photographic equipment, etc. Once we start the actual photography, it depends primarily upon your comfort level in front of the camera. I’ve had sessions that last an hour and I’ve had sessions go as quickly as 15 minutes. A few minutes after the photography, we will go through the images so that you can start making your choices for your final prints. As a general guideline, from start to finish, it would be safe to devote two hours to a “one hour” boudoir photo session.

Can I have someone else at my photo session?
Some of my clients feel more comfortable having someone at their photo session. It’s completely understandable. Whether they’re there to provide moral support or create a sense of security or any other reason, my goal is to have you as comfortable as possible during your photo session. If that means having someone else there, that’s entirely up to you. The only thing I ask is that they don’ interfere with the session itself. Otherwise, it’s your call.

What about wardrobe and hair & makeup?
Wardrobe is usually left up to you. If you would like, I can offer suggestions. Some clients have brought several different outfits to a session and, together, we decided on which one would work best. But because there are as many ideas and fantasies as there are women, it would be a practical impossibility for me to supply the wardrobe.
I also leave hair and makeup to you. Again, if you need suggestions, I can help you with what works best in front of the camera and what works best for a particular outfit. Also, stylists may be hired at additional cost.

I don’t look like a lingerie model; I’m too short/tall/heavy/skinny/etc.
Should I even be thinking about boudoir photography?
Absolutely! Boudoir photography is about your fantasy and not artificial expectations about artificial women. Anybody can see a lingerie catalog; only your special somebody gets to see your boudoir photographs.
And on the technical side, I’ll highlight your best features with the proper posing & wardrobe and lighting.

Do you provide photo retouching?
Basic color correction is included with your photo session fee. More advanced retouching and photo manipulation will be quoted on an individual basis. Some of that includes stretch mark, acne or scar removal. More advanced retouching and photo manipulation Examples of the different levels of retouching are available here.
Retouching is not provided on images for the post-session review, on the CD-ROM or in your private web gallery. However, I can show you quick examples of the kind of retouching I can do on your photographs during the post-session review so that you’ll have an idea of what to expect.

Are my photographs going to end up on this website?
No! Nor will I sell them to another website, magazine, or any other kind of publishing. Your privacy and your trust are both very important to me and your photos will never be published without your specific permission.

Can nude photography be part of a boudoir session?
You’re the boss; I will photograph you in any way that you desire. The limits of a session are determined by you. So whether you want to pose nude, semi-nude or fully clothed, it’s your decision. We can discuss the entire scope of your boudoir photo session long before we even begin so there will no questions by the time we start. There may be limitations placed on us (for example, if we’re on location), but other than that, I’m here to help you capture your fantasy.

What will this cost?
The costs will range depending upon how much you want to have done. While I prefer to work out personalized pricing for each client. For more specific information, I encourage you to contact me and we can discuss your options.

Can I purchase a boudoir photography package as a gift for someone else?
A photo session and prints can be a wonderful gift for someone. The only caveat I offer is that, because of the sensitive nature of boudoir photography, the session itself should not be a surprise.
For more specific information, I encourage you to contact me and we can discuss your options.

Is there an age restriction?
Because of the sensitive nature of boudoir photography, these services are limited to people who are at least 18 years of age; I may request that you provide proof of age. There is, of course, no upper limit.

How long will it be before I see my images?
While I'm taking your pictures the images are transferred to my laptop. As the images are transferred they pop up on the computer screen. By using a laptop during your photography session this also allows us the opportunity to see what works and what doesn't. After your photography session, the images are color corrected, and placed online for your viewing. This takes approximately 2-weeks.

How do I get the process started?
Contact me and we will discuss the specifics of what you would like me to do for you. Tell me what you have in mind. And I’ll work with you from the beginning to the end. You or somebody very special to you already has some kind of fantasy in mind; my job is to take that picture in your head and turn it into a photograph on paper.
