There are some moments in life that we never want to forget. Moments that define our experience and make us smile just thinking about it. Graduation, first date, winning championships and so forth are all part of that experience. For many, our wedding is one of these memories.
Capturing those moments in a photograph is a great gift. A gift that will likely be cherished for years to come as the photo hangs on walls, in albums, or even as a profile picture.
Here are some of our tips on how to capture the perfect wedding photo.
Getting to know the couple will help a photographer learn their style. Are they a silly couple or a serious couple? Is their relationship passionate, or sweet, or both? Knowing this about a wedding couple will direct the type of photos that will show their personality.
Many photographers choose to do an engagement session for this reason. This session is a less formal photography session that will help everyone get acquainted.
Everyone knows to smile when they pose for a photo. But, sometimes, the more casual pictures turn out to be the best. A good photographer will capture that real moment when the couple looks into each other’s eyes, rather than being posed.
After taking a posed photo, avoid putting your camera down right away. Wait for that moment that the couple shows their real selves and keep snapping shots.
The right moment may even include the proper lighting. Looking at sun placement as well as the light standards can make all the difference.
Is the bride’s hair out of place? Is the grooms boutonnière turned? Or, did a bridesmaid have her necklace backward? Pay attention to these details. A quick fix at the time will make it more likely that all of your pictures turn out perfect.
There is nothing worse for a photographer than missing that perfect moment because your camera was not prepared. Make sure you have everything you will need at hands reach. Try using a photography backpack so that you can keep all your essential items with you the whole day and not miss a single shot.
The perfect photo is more than just a simple aim and shoot. It involves knowing the features of your camera. If you move outdoors quickly, you will want to be ready to change your camera’s settings so that you can get the perfect photo every time.
